Hurricane Melissa Relief

Midwest Mission is responding to Hurricane Melissa — and they need our help. The best way to help right now is with your prayers and a monetary donation. Financial gifts allow them to respond immediately to changing needs and purchase critical supplies in bulk. Your gift helps them act quickly when every hour counts. (Please make your check out to First United Methodist Church with "Midwest Mission - Jamaica" in the memo line; or you can donate online at https://www.champaignfumc.org/give and designate it for "Midwest Mission - Jamaica".) You can also donate twin sheet sets which can be brought to the Resource Room.  The collection will be delivered to Midwest Mission near Chatham, IL.

Thanks for your help!

Clothing for Danville Correctional Center’s Newly Released Offenders

Clothing for Danville Correctional Center’s Newly Released Offenders

During the month of November, we again have the opportunity to participate in a program of the Danville Correctional Center to provide good used men’s clothing for at least half of those 500 offenders who are released each year with few assets to their name (only prison clothing).  Offenders about to be released can select clothing which can give them a sense of self-worth as they step back out into the world.

A labeled box is provided in the Resource Room for donations of all sizes of men’s clothing.  Especially needed are men’s jeans, pants, shirts, shoes, and jackets.  Please do not include any belts, ties, suspenders, or hangers.  We ask that you make your donations between November 1-30, 2025.  The church office will be open from 10 am to 3:00 pm weekdays for you to drop off your items, or you can bring them on Sunday morning.

We will be joining other churches in our area in this program.   Please remember the deadline for this fall collection is November 30.  We would like to thank Bob Clark from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for picking up and transporting our donated clothing to Danville.

Thank you for your help.

LIFT Winter Coat Drive

Outreach Ministry Team is assisting LIFT with providing coats for students from November 2 until November 23. Papers identifying sex, size, and color will be displayed on the railing leading from Friendship Center South to the Sanctuary. We will conclude this project on November 23. Please consider purchasing a coat so that students will be warm this winter.

 Thanks for your generosity!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Bring Decorated and/or Carved Pumpkins on Saturday, October 25

Members and friends of our church family are invited to bring a decorated and/or carved pumpkin to the church, to be displayed during our next Family Fun Sunday, which will happen October 26. The pumpkins will be observed and discussed during the children’s sermon on that day. All of the pumpkins on display will be praised in some way. At the conclusion of the service, families will be asked to take their pumpkins back home. We would truly appreciate as much participation as possible. If you would like to participate, please bring your pumpkin to church between 8 am and 10 am on Saturday, October 25. Thank you in advance to all who are able to participate.
