Seeking Contributions for Themed Gift Baskets!
At each Sunday Market, we plan to offer a maximum of 15 very special themed gift baskets.  We invite everyone—individuals, families, Wesley Covenant Groups, and Ministry Teams—to put together a collection of items to include in a gift basket.  We’d like to focus on these themes:  Inspiration, U of I Sports, Senior Citizens (stamps, Word Search, tea), Men’s Interests (e.g. golf, fishing), Spa (e.g. shower, bath, relaxation CD), Cooking (e.g. measuring cups, cookbook).  A detailed list of suggestions will be available soon.
Once you’ve decided on a theme, gather items and place them in a plastic bag (one bag per gift basket).  Leave the bags in the red container that has been placed in the Resource Room no later than 5 p.m. on September 18.  We’ll decorate the baskets for you!  (By the way, we’d also appreciate contributions of very large, empty baskets!)
Finally, on Monday, September 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Rooms A, B, and C, all women of the church are invited to attend a whirlwind event that we call the Basket Workshop.  In these two hours, we’ll assemble, decorate, label, and price gift baskets.  Even if you don't consider yourself to be creative, please join us!

Attention All Soup Cooks!
At our Second Sunday Market—Soup for the Soul—October 8, we will sell quarts of our two very popular varieties of homemade soup:  Chicken Rice and Beef Vegetable.  We could really use your help with this!  Please stop at the UMW Table in Friendship Center on September 17 or 24 to pick up soup recipes, instructions, and quart-size mason jars and lids.  Or, if you won’t be around, contact Sharon Johnson (356-9078).

Attention All Cake, Pie, and Bread Bakers!
On October 1, First Sunday Market—Manna for Missions—we’ll feature Specialty Cakes!  Some of our most talented bakers have already agreed to bake such delectable items as Italian Cream Cake, Carrot Cake, Cheesecake, and Pineapple Upside Down Cake.  We’d love to have a few more, including some mini-cakes for individuals or small families.  If you’d be willing to whip up one of your specialties, we’d really appreciate it!
Pies are so popular that we’ve set aside a special day for them:  October 15, Third Sunday Market—The Pie’s the Limit!   If you’re willing to bake a pie or two for us, please let us know.  Contact Anne McKenney (356-4728; ) Or, sign up at the UMW Table on September 17 or 24.  You can also pick up a pie or cake carrying container at that time.
And for those of you who bake cookies, cranberry bread, and other yummy baked treats, we welcome your contributions as well!  We’d love to have a variety of “other” baked goods to sell along with our pies on October 15.   Thank you, FUMC Bakers!
