Worship Enrichment Ministry Team
Assist our Pastoral staff in planning, preparing and implementing a meaningful and spiritually filled worship experience. Worship is “the work of the people.”
Core Group
Meet most Tuesday mornings at 9:30-11:00 am to plan all aspects of upcoming corporate worship services. Worship aspects include: liturgy, music, drama, prayers, visuals and artistic expressions, movement, communion, bulletin covers, sound, lighting, technology, ushering, etc. People with diverse interests, gifts and expertise are encouraged to participate. This team works year round.
Seasonal Team
Help supplement the core team in planning and implementing corporate worship for a particular liturgical season (Advent, Christmas and Ephiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter Season, Pentecost and Ordinary Time). Normally an 8 week commitment.
Extended Team
Spend one evening (or Saturday morning) with the core and seasonal teams giving input to discussion about the season, the scriptures, and the focus for that season. You are not asked to continue with specific jobs but you may volunteer to help, if you wish.
New Worship Team
Assist in planning, preparing and implementing a meaningful and spiritually filled worship service for those persons who would like an alternative to our current worship patterns. People who have experience with music, technology, drama, creativity, and the Spirit are encouraged to participate.
Usher
Assist as an Usher during the 8:30 or 11:00 am Sunday worship service throughout the year; arrive 20 minutes prior to the service, greet and seat those in attendance, distribute bulletins and collect the offering; participate in an orientation session; assist during special services (Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, funerals, etc.); for one or more months per year. All persons, regardless of gender, are invited and encouraged to participate.
Sound System Operation 8:30 or 11:00
Operate our sound system and record the worship services on Sunday morning; new operators participate in a short training program. Commitment is on a rotating schedule.
Monthly Altar Flower Helpers
Coordinate altar flowers for a specific month; to contact those individuals who have signed up for a given Sunday; to submit their bulletin request to the
secretary; to order the flowers from the florist.
Communion - Prepare
Assist monthly in preparing the elements, to set the altar and to clean up after Communion for both 8:30 and 11:00 am services, or for special services.
Communion - Serve
Assist serving communion, first Sunday of the month, or when required, either service.
Lay Liturgist 8:30 or 11:00
Assist in leading our congregation in prayer during a Sunday morning service.
Storytelling/Children’s Moment
Prepare and present a 3-minute story to children during both the 8:30 and 11:00 am worship services; normally four times a year.
Worship Visuals - Altar, Banners & Paraments
Create or arrange special displays and fabric pieces which will enhance the worship experience; on an as needed basis.
Narthex Planter Boxes
Help create seasonal displays; to help water and maintain live plants and the fountain; to loan appropriate seasonal and thematic decorations for these displays.
